The three members of Holbrook’s Regional School District Planning Committee met with their Avon counterparts on Jan. 7 to begin considering a regional school system. Richard Stagnone, a member of the Holbrook panel, said information the panel had gathered since August was sent to Avon’s committee. Avon’s group, which was appointed more recently, according to Stagnone, invited Holbrook to its meeting. In an interview, Stagnone said the Holbrook panel has been reviewing the process of establishing a regional school system and has looked at other towns, notably Abington. But that idea died because both communities were committed to building new schools, he said. In contrast, Holbrook’s planned new junior-senior high school could accommodate all of the high school students from Holbrook and Avon, while middle school students from both could attend the existing Avon Middle-High School.
