The times are getting seriously challenging in Russia and quick. Since there is no way to change power legally through elections, and since people are very unhappy about the collapse of the ruble, as well as of their decreasingly limited ability to buy ANYTHING, there is now discussion on Russian Fb pages whether this will be done with little blood, through social upheaval, or as a court-coup. There simply is no other way it seems. Putin is not seen as leaving under any circumstances and the current state of affairs in Russia is unacceptable to anyone but a very small number of oligarchs and bureaucrats. People are admitting that they need help from the outside world, and help wont come until sanctions are removed, most likely by Putins head being presented to the West on a platter. The dynamic of online conversations also changed where the formerly evil Ukranians are now writing: we could do it, but you Russians, you are weak, youll take anything your government decides to do to you. Now what? A brief news round up: A former political prisoner, and now a likely candidate for president in the imaginary universe where there are free and fair election in Russia, Mr. Mikhail Khodorkovsky is openly calling for a rebellion, speaking of freedom in very real terms, telling people that you are the real power, not Putin, and you are the reason for future well-being of our country, not oil. youtu.be/_3J02D38e7I A former candidate for Moscow mayor, Alexei Navalny, under house arrest for some time, just gave the last word at his trial. Video of his statement is going viral in Russia. In it, Navalny says that people of Russia should not be staring at the desk as injustices of all sorts take place all around us. He will be officially sentenced in the next few days or weeks. A Facebook page set up today to invite people to a discussion of Navalnys sentence on January 15th, has already been blocked by Russian government. https://navalny/p/4026/ To end on an upbeat note, heres a video making fun of Russian SWAT teams - the very same protesters are likely to be facing in the not too distant future. Remember, the Black Tuesday and rubles collapse was just three days ago.
