The tongue reveals the heart. If the heart is right with God, the speech will be right and not profane. Any speech inconsistent with godliness is worthless. Practical godliness will reveal itself in our speech. This will exclude all profanity, cussing, and crude language. When we talk about the serious holy things of God in a flippant way and use foul language on YouTube, Facebook, or at home, how can we expect anyone to respect us and take our faith in Christ seriously? Profanity is poison coming out of our mouth and it effects others. It is never pleasant, but is degrading. The danger of crude profane speech is ignored, denied, and even laughed at. The pollution of profanity fills the air like cigarette smoke. Profanity is a sin that must be confessed and repented!
