The top of the Hot Country Singles chart for the week ending Saturday, August 25, 1984.. . Thirty years ago this week it was the first of three number one singles on the Hot Country Singles chart for the legendary country, folk, country rock, folk rock, country pop and bluegrass band, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which was originally formed way back in 1966 in Long Beach, California. At the time of this recording, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band consisted of Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, John McEuen, Bob Carpenter and Jimmy Ibbotson. This new number one country music selection from thirty years ago was the first of three singles released from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands June of 1984 Warner Bros. Records studio album release entitled PLAIN DIRT FASHION.
