The total of 640,537 passengers boarded flights at XNA Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in 2014. This is an increase of 10.15% over 2013 numbers. Since the downturn in the economy in late 2007 and for several years after, travel was reduced, postponed or even cancelled as people waited to see if the economic environment would improve. It took some time, but Northwest Arkansas has come bounding back. Folks are traveling in numbers that havent been seen since the downturn. The cost of airfares have also decreased 4.5% out of XNA for many routes as well, according to DOT statistics.
