The town of Lakeshore takes another step tonight toward welcoming an emerging marijuana industry. A special meeting is being held to outline recommendations for industrial marijuana and hemp production facilities. A report to be tabled tonight takes several factors into consideration -- everything from noise, traffic and location to odour, water usage and security. Lakeshores Director of Community and Development Services, Steve Salmons, says the town doesnt want to miss out on any economic growth opportunities. If someone were to submit an application today to establish a marijuana or hemp production facility, wed have to say theres no zoning currently available for this in Lakeshore and reject the application. We certainly dont want to do that. Administration has advanced the argument that there are some economic benefits to the Town of Lakeshore.
