The tragic case of Lucy epitomizes how compassionate pet welfare in 2014 is at crisis point. UK Gill Redfearn raised the alert for Lucy and some wonderful people are responding to offer their money and their help for this little girl genuinely suffering from dreadful injuries. But if you read the thread comments some burning current issues have reared their ugly heads. 1)Most importantly is why any UK vet surgery would withhold treatment other than pain control, pending assurance that their fees would be paid, in this emergency for a critically abused dog? 2)Why will the RSPCA only offer £160 towards Lucys treatment? 3)Many people, so burnt by FB scammers exploiting animals, are reluctant to trust that this is indeed a genuine call. We know Gill Redfearn and know that this is a genuine emergency call, but unsurprisingly, thanks to the proliferation of disgusting FB scammers and self serving charities who have made cynics of so many of us, doubters are demanding the name & contact details of the treating vet so as to make their donations directly to them for Lucys treatment.
