The transcript is long but it is the written record of what I heard live and in particular the line that we all want a strong and prosperous Russia. I looked it up and it is the same line used in many Obama speeches from his very first meeting with Putin as President. I think it is time for President Obama to be honest and straightforward with both Russia and the rest of the world and eliminate that phrase as by now it is no longer true. I do not think it is accurate to say that today, the US or the EU want a strong Russia. Things have changed and there is no point in repeating old phrases which are no longer true and could be misconstrued as this being just a hiccup in the relationship which can otherwise go back to where it was. Prosperous - sure, nobody has a problem with that and wishes all the prosperity to Russian people. But strong - no so much, more like in check or contained.
