The trend towards victimhood started decades ago when Americans stopped taking responsibility for their own actions and started blaming everyone else. Get a cup of hot coffee at a drive through and spill it in your lap? Not your fault, sue the restaurant. Use a hair dryer in the bathtub and nuke yourself? Why didnt that thing have a warning label on it! Sue the bastards! And the training starts early in life. Dont keep score at kids games, dont do any of those awful sports like dodge ball, dont dare do anything to damage little Johnnys or little Janes self esteem! They must feel good about themselves even if they are total idiots. Government programs thrive on victims. Victims of the economy justify huge budgets for agencies that takes money from working people and puts it into the pockets of non-working people. Slime on both sides of the political aisle, garner votes by promising more to these victims which means taking more from the working stiffs. A country once known for being full of self reliant pioneers is now a country of sheep looking up to the Powers That Be (PTB) for more handouts.
