The truest teaching of spirituality is not really about words or - TopicsExpress

The truest teaching of spirituality is not really about words or actions at its source. The true teaching is about being, not speaking or even doing. It will inevitably give rise to words and actions, but the words and actions themselves are not the true teaching, they are a result of the embodying of a true teaching. We are all living and breathing teachings, whether we know it or not, even when we are not apparently saying or doing anything at all, we are teaching. Someone may say all the right spiritual words, but if the teaching is not embodied in them, their words will have no power and will seem boring. If a person is abiding in and embodying the teaching, the simplest words they speak, or no words at all, will speak eloquently. Even the silence of such a one will inspire and lift up all who are around them. It is better to sit silently radiating pure presence/unconditional openness/compassion out into the world than it is to preach loudly and perform many spiritual actions with no presence radiating from the heart. What we put out into the world is a kind of fragrance, a presence, an energy, an attitude. When we live and abide always in a sense of this presence, people will just find themselves feeling good around us. And they may not even have any idea why that is! They may actually be quite puzzled about it!
