The two Democratic candidates who are trying to become the next Oklahoma School Superintendent are speaking out. The first candidate is Doctor Freda Deskin and she is a charter school founder. Im starting my 44th year in education. Ill be beginning my 15th year as a school administrator. I was a classroom teacher for 15 years, Deskin said. She is running against Doctor John Cox who is also a longtime educator. The differences between myself and my opponent (Deskin) is that I have spent all my life in public school and promoting it and my opponent is charter school, Cox said. The winner of the Democratic runoff slated to take place August 26th will face Republican challenger Joy Hofmeister of Tulsa for the Oklahoma School Superintendent position.
