The unborn Lying within the darkness Of the womb Listening to the music And the laughter Outside the walls They hear joyous sounds Of those that love them Their time in darkness will soon pass And they will come forth Into the light of day To gaze upon the voices Which now have faces But what of those that are not wanted Not welcome To make their appearance Into this world A new life Appearing on earth For most they are welcomed With open arms And tears of joy A joyous time For parents and kin alike But what of those that heard The distaste of their being They have heard cursing And regret From the moment They were conceived They heard voices That crushed the now formed wee one And as they made their appearance From darkness to light Tears of sadness were brought forth By the mother For she is alone Facing a decision of what to do She had already made a choice To continue on with the pregnancy But now another choice has to be made One that will affect her entire life And that of the newborn What does the future hold For this young mother And the babe What is ahead For them As they step forth Unto tomorrow?
