Theyre systems can operate using hot steaming water and more suction to improve overall cleaning. Im not so sure the Rug Doctor performs significantly better than consumer grade machines. It may be made with better parts and last longer, but it doesnt run like a vacuum in the sense that you can use it in both directions. What is nice about the Rug Doctor is that its designed to be durable. They have come down in price but you can still only clean in one direction but the electrical switches on the machine are probably more durable on the machine and will last longer than the mechanical ones commonly found on consumer machines. Bissels Big Green and the Rug Doctor will have more suction than most consumer grade machines but not enough to compare when pit against a truck mounted cleaner. The Bissel Big Green and Rug Doctor are also harder to maneuver and are designed for bigger jobs where youll probably have to move furniture. Rug Doctors latest consumer grade machine sports a smaller soap tank than its other commercial sisters in the Rug Doctor product line. It still only cleans in one direction but the electrical switches are obviously more durable and designed to last longer than the plastic mechanical ones you find on other consumer machines.
