The unfolding of Your word gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. - Psalm 119:130 Correct perspective gives true clarity. A friend told me how, (some 20 years ago), he went from a losing NFL team to the defending Super Bowl Champs, the San Francisco 49ers. Except for the obvious different colors and logo, everything about the complexes and field were all relatively the same. And then he began to practice with them. It was the difference of night and day from his previous team. The standard of work ethic was much higher. There was very little tolerance for selfishness and lack of focus. The expectation was of a champion and they carried themselves in that manner on and off the field. There was such an intense concentration and attention to detail, that were not so emphasized with the other team. He was in a culture before that was so mediocre that it became the standard. It was accepted, surely, though, not in San Francisco. It gave my friend a new perspective in what was expected of him. He began to expect more from himself as well. He got focused by deliberately putting aside that which would distract him. He began to play at a higher level both physically and mentally. It was expected. How about you? Has the environment you are in caused you to settle over time without knowing it? Do you expect less of yourself than you should? Do you have someone at a higher level that can hold you accountable? It happened to me a few years ago and forced me to grow. Without it, I would have had the same false perspective of who I can and should be. You too need also to self evaluate your perspective. Can you do more, where you are, with what you have? Can you do it more effectively and efficiently? Intentionally surround yourself with people who will challenge you. Let God remove the scales from your eyes so that you may see clearly. Intentionally, today……and every day…. Seek God’s TRUE Perspective
