The unincorporated village of Edison is just south of Doylestown, right behind where the business route and the bypass come back together. Today it is dominated by the Edison Quarry and a rifle range. In the early years of the 20th century, though, it was the village of Bridge Point, named for a seven arched stone bridge spanning the Neshaminy Creek and it was the summer retreat and hangout for a clique of artists who called themselves The Scumblers. They would get get away from the noise and pollution of Philadelphia, hang out and chill together, sample the local brews, and even get some work done. This grkyp shows the restored blacksmith shop used as a park building, the remains of the stone bridge, and the apparent end of the line for the streetcar line.
