The union held a barbeque for Labor Day and I fell off the wagon - TopicsExpress

The union held a barbeque for Labor Day and I fell off the wagon again. I am done with falling off that wagon. Time to behave and stick to my diet. After briefly socializing, I went berry picking for crowberries. I was able to get four jars of jelly out of what I managed to pick. Crowberries are as tedious as blueberries to pick, and they are slightly smaller, so it takes a lot more of them to make jam than with a larger berry like salmonberries. The jelly turned out good, even though the raw berries have an ugly flavor that causes a choking feeling similar to that which is experienced with raw chokecherries. But just as chokecherries become palatable with cooking and a little sugar, so do the crowberries. I checked for medicinal properties, and only the stems and branches are good for anything. The berries have more antioxidant properties than blueberries, so they are good for ones health. Here is a website that talks about crowberries, but the text is almost the same color as the background, so I recommend highlighting it to see what the author has to say about crowberries. arcticrose.wordpress/2008/04/02/040108-traditional-medicine-and-foods-crowberry/
