The universe keeps reminding me this week, that youre dealt the hand that you are in life, you cant change it, but you do have the choice in how you react. 20 years ago, I saw the pain and suffering in the world and didnt want to face it, so I was a heroin addict. It took me years to realize that no matter what I did, how much I medicated, I couldnt numb myself enough. Slowly I started to see, that everything in life can be taken from you in an instant, that the fires will consume you and sometimes this will happen more than once. With each new rising, I began to see the ashes behind me have left room for new creations and that I had the choice on how I was going to wake up and face the day. I learned that I could let those flames consume me or i could consciously affect the world around me. Is it not a freeing feeling to have nothing left, no expectations and only an open road before you? I found myself praying for a time when this would all get easier, but Im afraid that wont happen from here... The path ahead has no promise of ease, I understand that facing the loss of my child will forever scar my heart... Each day is a roller coaster of tears, triumphs and gratitude. I continue to count the blessings that I have and to look forward to the ones I can help create. Its the challenges that help us grow, you cant change the hand thats dealt, your only choice, the true freedom, is how you react to it.
