The unprecedented incessant rain in living memory, cloud bursts in upper catchment areas of Uttarakhand flooded the Ganges and its tributaries Alaknanda, Bhagirithi Mandakni which led to landslides and completely swept the villages and many people are grim reminder of the fact that we should desist from the unregulated growth of settlement in those vulnerable areas. This disaster is 50 % man made. The losses of human and cattle life could have been minimised if the state and the central governments could have acted swiftly as per the prediction of the weather forecast. The irony is that the state government was negligent in handling the impending danger and the cetnral government was busy in countering Modi Phobia and was more concerned in branding Nitish as secular. The Dual centric government and thier helm of the state could do the aerial survey once the entire story ended. Their entire team will visit the state and will not forget to offer sahayata rashi (ex-gratia) which will strengthen thier poll plank. The stark rality is that the politican clan of this country does not consider people at large more than cattles whose numbers will always remain unaccounted and do not forget that we all stand on the same pedastal. The death toll will be more and more higher and will remain un-accounted. Ask those families and try to measure thier sorrow and grief who lost some one. This is personal view you may tend to disagree.
