The value of time. Yesterday someone called me with a land line and said hi, how are you, how was the States, I heard you were there from your work colleagues. I said I have no idea who Im speaking to kindly identify yourself. He said the first name X and continued speaking. Had to ask X who? I know 3 Xs. Then he says so hows things spoke to you last before the States - I pointed out that was 2 months back if he could now focus on why he called. This is 5 minutes into a conversation and he hasnt gotten round to getting to the point. I politely advised that if there was no business I needed to attend to something important. Then he says I will call at 2. I said no I wont have time to talk to you. Maybe try end of week or next week. Needless to say number is saved now as Timewaster. I work a lot with young people. Too many of them lacking basic phone etiquette. Sending you investment opportunities via app in shorthand. Conversations like hi, hw u, am gd, hwz tings, wats nw, jst sayin im gd. I dont have time for this...nor time to repeat tutor on soft skills. This is why I ask people to write emails no time for useless banter. And this zimasset needs to have a module for comms etiquette, argh!
