The vast majority of police officers are good people doing what is often a very heroic job, and its hard to imagine how frightened many of them are bound to feel just going to work each day. I remember reading a powerful book many years ago called The Choir Boys, written by a former Los Angeles policeman named Joseph Wambaugh, and I never looked at a police officer the same way again. Today lets pray for every policeman and policewoman. What happened in NYC has got to be weighing on all their hearts. Dear God, Please serve and protect Those who serve and protect us. Surround them and fill them with Your light, that they might see more clearly and encounter more consistently the light in everyone else. Heal the relationship between police and populace in this country and every other. Let not the violence in our hearts spill into our streets, but rather fill us all with Love. Amen
