The very first comic noob to actually get it...! The whole POINT - TopicsExpress

The very first comic noob to actually get it...! The whole POINT of marketing comic book characters, at least for the comic book companies, is to gain new readers (And, for pessimists, YES, that ALSO MEANS making money). This is why there are so many movies, video games, and TV shows being created. The point is to create new audiences, and get them hooked on these specific characters, so they can find their local comic book store and start reading other adventures they star in! And the LEGO games are no exception... Playing LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the host of the YouTube channel Game Theory ended up becoming a comic book fan! In one of his most recent videos, he shows off all of his new knowledge he gained from becoming more interested in DC Comics Z-listers, such as Composite Superman, and D-listers like the Red Lantern feline Dex-Starr. And he fully embraced the ridiculousness of a lot of the characters. And, he finishes the video off with some very enlightening points that I never really thought about. Comic book movies dont try to take the extra step into embracing the weird and ridiculous. And, thats mostly true.... Marvel Studios, with movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, is trying to break the grounded, realistic approach to comic book movies that a lot of people will claim Christopher Nolan perfected. While it worked for Batman, it doesnt work for every character. There was even a time where Marvels vice president even said that a Black Panther movie might never happen because of comfort zones. In that, Black Panther is a king of a African nation that is beyond advanced.... And he didnt feel it would work without being somewhat offensive on a level. Obviously, Marvel is willing to get out of that comfort zone. After all, though, theyve never had one... The company has been going off of good luck and risks. All of their characters are B & C-listers. Anyway, maybe its time more studios went for it? The ridiculous and weird? That was a really good opinion for a noob. Most noobs either gravitate towards A-list characters, or overly-popular characters, because thats all they know and arent actually willing to go further. And, some, just go for the indie comics because superheroes are too mainstream..... Even though its the superhero movies that got them to even look at a comic book store. So, the point is.... Im glad we have another person in the fandom. Especially one who actually has an interest in this stuff and is willing to get out of the comfort zone of A-list characters. And even bring up points Ive never heard, before.... Check out the video, below!
