The very popular Swan Valley Hunter Trials held on Sunday 9th - TopicsExpress

The very popular Swan Valley Hunter Trials held on Sunday 9th November in blistering heat proved to be a testing day for some. With lots of thrills and thankfully not too many spills, horses and riders beat the heat and tackled a cleverly built course. It was an absolute treat to watch a record number of retired racehorses compete at this event and conquer it! Recently retired, Russell Road (with Scenic Blast right on his tail) and Thoroughbred racehorse trainer Kellie Grantham seemed to be having way too much fun and it was great to see. Frenchman had Sharny Joyce grinning from ear to ear and together with Thoroughbred racehorse trainer Meryl Hayley and Appointed, the off the track horses were plentiful! Skyllar Bathori and her retired Standardbred racehorse Perfect McVee proved that Standardbreds can jump and were awarded for their efforts by collecting the overall prize for Best Performed Standardbred. Congratulations! Irma La Dane and her new owner and rider Rhianna Gaasdalen exploded the myth that Thoroughbred racehorses just off the track dont make the perfect riding mount. You couldnt get more perfect than Irma La Dane at her first ever competition. Bowling around the entire course without a care in the world and absolutely loving it. Retired from racing after 31 starts in late August this year and carefully and lovingly placed in a forever home by her owners and trainer Justine Erkelens, Irma La Dane and Rhianna picked up a 1st placing, being only 3 seconds outside optimum time. Expect to see big things from this duo in the future. A very BIG congratulations to Terena Lomas and her retired Thoroughbred racehorse Halo, winner of the Best Performed Thoroughbred overall. An awesome achievement. Congratulations! Despite the heat it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all and a credit to the organisers - Swan Valley Horse and Pony Club.
