The video and article is in Spanish but I will sum up the incident below. A group of 4x4 enthusiasts organized a trail ride to drive through a river bed. The vehicles in the group were heavily modified vehicles capable of making it through. As they began their trail ride, another group of 4x4 vehicles which werent as modified began following the original group. According to the leaders of the trail ride, at some point, they estimate there were up to 60 vehicles in line. At some point in their ride, the river water level began to gradually rise but the lead vehicles were able to continue on and eventually get out of the river bed (not sure if at the end of their planned trail or as a result of the rising water level). The problem is that many of the vehicles that joined the group got stuck in the river bed (Also unsure if that is because of the rising water or simply because of mud, etc). It had rained some distance away and as a result, a flash flood occurred. As the water level rose an estimated 4 feet, vehicles and their occupants were carried by the water, flipped around and buried in mud. According to the latest article, 50 people have been rescued alive, 9 have been confirmed dead and several more are still missing. Many of the deceased were part of the same family. Within the confirmed dead is a 9 year old girl and a 17 year old girl. Within the missing is a 3 year old girl who was ripped from her parents arms by the raging river. Very sad story.
