The visiting Victoria College out of the United Kingdom ended their four-match tour of Saint Lucia with an exciting two-wicket win over Northern Grass Root Cluster at the Beausejour Cricket Ground yesterday. Batting first, Northern Grass Root Cluster compiled 166 for 9 from their allotment of 40 overs with Kimani Herelle top-scoring with 43, while captain Dane Edward with 43, and female player Quiana Joseph (12) being the only other players to reach double figures. For Victoria College, David Bourne topped the bowling honours with 3 for 21 including a hat-trick at the top of the innings, while the rest of the wickets were shared by Ben Tait 3 for 43, Kai Herridge 2 for 34 and Matthew Donaldson 1 for 28. In reply, the visitors were reduced to 58 for 5 in the 18th over but recovered through a sixth-wicket stand of 83 between James Dempsey, who cracked 49 from 43 balls with 3 sixes and 5 fours, and opener, David Bourne, who batted resolutely for 40 from 110 balls. A late stumble to 158 for 8 kept the Grass Root team in the hunt, but Thomas Terry with 15 not out carried the English lads through with two overs remaining. Final Scores:Northern Grass Root Cluster 166 for 9 in 40 overs. Victoria College 167 for 8 in 38 overs.
