The war in Afghanistan has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, including that of our own son of the soil Abraham J. Tarwoe. A.J left Liberia during the heat of the war at age 12 and sought asylum in the United States. He joined the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune from N.C. and was deployed to Afghanistan. Abraham .J who was supposed to return home to Liberia after 13 years died (in 2012) a few months before his scheduled trip to Liberia due to injuries he sustained during a battle in Afghanistan. He leaves behind his wife Juah and son A.J Jr, and a host of family members. His battalion honored Abrahams long wish of returning home, by hosting his funeral in Flehla, Liberia. We will like to honor Abraham J. Tarwoe for his service, he paid the ultimate sacrifice for peace, and we are sure, as some peacekeepers did for Liberia. Please join us in celebrating A.Js bravery and dedication. He was a brave young man that lived through and accomplished a lot in his 25 years on this earth.
