The war in the Donbas is having a major impact on the economy of the region. Retail activity has come to a standstill, banks barely operate, and manufacturing plants face damage or destruction by the terrorists. Risks associated with ecologically hazardous industries have multiplied. Elsewhere in Ukraine vacations spots have been transformed into refugee centers, and factories specializing in the repair of old defense equipment are working around the clock.
