The warm sunny days are back, so let’s make use of this opportunity to visit another one of the Klang Valley road cycling community’s favourite. Hulu Langat. Date: 25th January 2015 Start/End: Batu 18 Hulu Langat Park along Jalan Ulu Langat Bt.18. Please park completely off the tarmac & considerately. Please do NOT park in the apartment carpark as we have been getting complaints from residents. GPS Coordinates: N03.164298 E101.847530 Google Map: “Pekan Baru Lapan belas” Time: 7:30am (Please be there 15minutes before start) How to get there: Take the Jln Cheras / Kajang highway. Take the first left after Batu 9 Cheras toll and make another left at police station and head towards Jln Hulu Langat (B52). Drive about 14.5km along this road and park near the Police station (on the left) when you hit Batu 18. Route Options: Option A: Batu 18 - Peres Top(Regroup) - Warung Astana(Quick refill) - Peres Top(Regroup) - Batu 18(Approximately 80km) Option B: Batu 18 - Peres Top(Regroup and U-Turn) - Batu 18(Approximately 40km) Beautiful, chilly, fresh and low traffic, it is no wonder that it rivals Genting Sempah as one of the top two cycling spots in the Klang Valley. Ride leaders will hold the safety pre-ride briefing and commence the ride at Batu 18, next to the police station. The ride starts with a right turn towards an easy and relatively flat route all the way to the T junction, the foot of the famous Genting Peras. Take a left turn, start climbing and we will have our first regroup at the top. For those who opt for Option A, the climb does not end there. You will be experiencing a mixture of both rapid descents and short climbs before approaching the halfway refill point at Warung Astana. The way back, “WILL BE HELL AND PAINFUL” but also beautiful. NOTES: - Check your brakes are working and the pads are sufficient before the ride. One of the major rewards of climbing uphill is to enjoy the rapid speed when descending. However please do not descend at a speed beyond your comfort zone. - When riding downhill, road condition is decent but like most major roads, there will be potholes and uneven bumps. - Superbikes, motorcycles and cars are expected along the way. Remember road hogging will always cause an eyesore and is extremely dangerous. You are welcomed to bring a friend along to join us, as a matter of fact, the more the merrier. But please do take care of him/her instead of leaving them at the back, the route going home might seem simple and straight forward but to keep the interest of cycling intact, it is always better, safe and more motivating when he/she has another person riding alongside. Things to bring along: Spare tubes, handphone, hand pump, multitools, tyre levers, food, sunblock, 2 filled water bottles and for safety purpose, NO HELMET NO RIDE. Ride Leaders: Captain Chua Pei Chong - 0123796830 Gawd of Levitation Jason - 0126620998 We hope to see you on Sunday and as usual, the more the merrier *Please save the contact details of the leaders. Should anyone decides to turn back halfway, please inform someone in the group.
