The way it should be: If you are going to run for political office you should not be able to show your face, have your voice audibly heard, you may not make TV or radio commercials, and you may not disclose your party affiliation neither in promotional materials nor on the ballot. All you get to do is publish a manifest that is free to any and all vote eligible citizens that discusses how you stand on issues. You may conduct open Q&A sessions but only online using Instant Messenger. This way voters must read and do some research to decide for whom to vote for. No longer will people be able to waltz into the voting booth and mindlessly vote all Democrat, Republican, or whatever. Voters must know for whom in which they are voting for. If you do not pay federal, state, county, or city taxes or do not own any taxable property you do not get to vote. You must have a vested interest in the country in order to have a say as to how the country is governed. In order to vote you must prove that you are a citizen of the country. You must also be able to produce a valid form if ID even if it is only a library card. If you win the election, and you deviate in anyway from the manifest that you published before the election, or it is shown that any of the rules of campaigning have been broken, you forfeit your seat and the 1st runner up gets to take over your position. This also goes for anyone holding a public office who breaches the Constitution in any way. Oh, and one more thing...if you are in public office you are paid Minimum Wage.
