The way that the media is portraying the nature of protests over - TopicsExpress

The way that the media is portraying the nature of protests over the systematic racial injustice and police brutality in our country is irresponsible and seeks to marginalize and minimize substantive issues in favor of propping up an unfair, racist, and lethal oppression. It makes me wonder about the treatment of blacks by the mainstream white media during the civil rights movement or apartheid, now everyone scurries to be on the right side of history but then how many were calling those protesters lazy, thugs, or martin luther king a race hustler or saying that protests and riots, rather than being a reaction to an intractable situation were the work of criminals. Even now, conservative news sites praise revered figures like MLK then publicly turn around and disparage anyone who seeks to continue the spirit of his work. Its as if to say, we fixed that! you can vote, quit whining. while maintaining were not racist, see we quoted MLK the black people are double secret racists. As with all things you have two choices to support this system through complicity and inaction or to do act in any small way you can to try and change the social contract of the society we live in.
