The weather is so beautiful. The pre-autumn air smells intoxicating. Picked Chloe up from school and pulled the car over at a park. We hopped on two swings right next to each other and for 30 minutes we did nothing but cut the sky. We did not speak. Occasionally we turned our heads to smile at each other. The two of us telepathically connected by the rhythm of the swings, moving in unison and the metallic squeal of chains completing the symphony. I had forgotten the simplicity of this. Feeling the wind cut past my body as my feet aim higher and higher. My brain tried to ruin the good feeling by telling me that the swing would break and I would be terribly injured. But I recognized this thought for the liar it was and just breathed right through it. Going higher and higher... Feeling air rip past my hair.. Almost touching the clouds.. And smiling, forever wider.
