The weather may not be much of an indicator, but outdoor track has begun for RWC. The first meet of the year was held at California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. The distance runners continued to roll from XC through indoor and now to outdoor. Enock De Bor faired well in his races taking 1st in the 1500m in 3:56.84 and 2nd in the 5000m in 14:37.71. Closing up the 1500m were Thomas Rodger, Keith Pease, Kevin Brown, and Matt Watson all in the top 8. Hayden Jurius took 2nd in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 38.77m just edging out Taylor Isselhard who finished in 3rd and brother Mitch Jurius in 5th place. Taylor collected a 4th place finish in the Discus with a toss of 36.77m. In the jumps, Dave Donovan took 2nd in Long Jump leaping 6.42m. And Gabe Rivera finished 4th in High Jump clearing 1.90m. For the women, Rachel Hutchinson won the 1500m in 4:50.20 with Rachel Hust not far behind in 4th place. Megan Hulton took 2nd in the 5000m in 18:07.93 and Hannah Taft took 6th in 19:03.85. Ashley Andrews took 5th place in the 100 hurdles, in 17:45. Heidi Reigel took 5th in the open 400m edging out Brianna Calderon 1:03.83 to 1:03.93. Victoria Houser takes 4th in the Hammer throw going 39.33m and Katy Perry takes 6th going 35.72m. Katy then take 3rd in Discus going 38.52. In the jumps, freshman Kasey Semmler takes 2nd in Pole Vault clearing 2.90m and Hope Olsen takes 5th clearing 2.75m. Katherine Dovi takes 4th in Long Jump leaping 4.87m. While Sharon Howell takes 5th in Triple Jump hop, skip, and jumping 9.81m. A great first meet of the season in less than ideal conditions. Now looking forward to a home town meet at the University of Rochester next weekend March 29th. Come out and support your team!!!
