The weather was pretty awful the last week, but we camped anyway - TopicsExpress

The weather was pretty awful the last week, but we camped anyway and rode in the short spells in between cold rain and brrrrrrrrrr winds! Huey and I actually rode one round on our training horses in rain that was coming down in sheets sideways. We were properly attired and actually LOVED it! I had to stop at one point and look up at the tops of the pine trees, swaying in the wind. Stunningly beautiful. Beats the heck out of the view from a hospital bed, so thank you, Lord, for letting me ride, even if it wasnt perfect riding weather! Here is a short clip of one of the in between rides, and that fellow in the back of the ride, who is riding the horse whose hooves are singing Chicken in a Bread Pan Pecking Out Dough; Granny Wont Your Dog Bite? No, Child No! is Jarrod, who was a huge fishing enthusiast with no interest in horses at all, but being the great husband he is, he sought wisdom and in an effort to make his wife happy, learned to ride and even train his own horses. He took lessons from Huey for about a year, and look at him now! This young Paso mare that he is riding is one that he bred and raised, and tried to bring to us to start under saddle. We slapped him on the wrist and told him that he had all the tools to do the job himself, and he has done an absolutely perfect job. Huey did the training of Jarrod, while I am still busy being the drill sargent, badgering, nagging and trying to force him to understand how good and capable he is. Jarrods daughter, Lexie is leading the way on a Tennessee Walking Horse, and his wife Stephanie is riding a Paso gelding, uncle to Jarrods horse. Two of our Oklahoma training horses are being ridden by Dawnyell (on Rollo) and Paul (on Classy), and another training horse, Splash, is being ridden by Casey. Huey is riding Remington, and I am riding Rolex on the other side of the road so that I can get video and pics. Sweet little Hailey, who is 10 years old and having her first trail ride camping trip in the forest with her own horse, is in the middle of this ride on her pretty little sorrel Paso mare, Isabella. We usually ride through the forest, but we were taking a short cut down the side of a highway to beat the sunset back to camp.
