The week 6 Sehir Sutlac Super Lig report is sponsored by Tadims Sunflower Seeds, “If you want to calm your nerves after a hard day, Tadim’s your choice. Plus, it’s better than smoking!” Yesterdays battle in the Turkish Delight Derby was a hostile and contested match from the start. Before the players stepped onto the field, the rivalry was strongly felt within the raucous atmosphere in the empty stands. As one player stated before kick-off, Even the cold breeze will not calm the fires den in Temel Shaban Vizespor Arena. The end result of the match was lopsided compare to the daring physical and emotional display conducted by the players. Real Simit FC beat Borek United by a large margin with a score of 11 to 5. Throughout the game, Real dominated the midfield and controlled the backline with a strong defense from the efforts of Adem Dal, Sean Monterastelli , and Neil Simon. The return of Monterastelli helped keep United’s attacking forwards Montaser Jassouma and Xavier Daniel Palacios Mengod from playing an opened game, thus disrupting their harmony and keeping them at bay with strong performances from both Dal and Simon. In addition to a strong backline, precision passes from both Bekir Erol Ates and Meric Sobutay helped create scoring opportunities for Real, thus frustrating the patience of Borek United’s defense. The blowout in this game brought memories of the classic 2012 match between Sporting Ayran and AC Cola Turk. These two teams strongly despised one another and the league imposed sanctions on both teams for poor sportmanship. After last night’s match, it would not be a surprise that Comissioner Levent Balcioglu will impose serious penalties from the antics of both Real’s Hector Mendoza and United’s Jassouma. Borek United lost their temperament and let their emotions dictate their game, which brought a catastrophic result. Cheap slide tackles, pushing, and yelling marred the game from its amateurish tactics for both sides, but it brought a wild excitement in the empty stands and the personnel working at Vizespor Arena, even though they were reading their newspapers and drinking their cay. It was obvious Borek United wanted to win the title of “Turkey’s Breakfast of Champions.” Throughout the match, an ugly hidden face revealed itself amongst the players due to Freud’s theory of inner conflict within the man’s ego. Within our society of discontent, victory was the only ideal exquisiteness that brought content to the players’ minds. The action on the pitch may have been ugly and sloppy, but with a closer look it is no different from a Jackson Pollack portrait where beauty is hidden within the chaotic colours of the paint canvass. It is true that the players in the field were not good enough to be the giants playing in the sacred stadiums located in Milan, London, Paris, or Barcelona. Yet, these little giants played with true grit and passion within a deteriorated field located next to one of Istanbul’s congested highways. Overall, a great game was played and no player walked out with his head down nor alone. Tune in next for Josh Berling’s Testimonal since he is retiring at the end of the season in Youtube channel “Ayran is better than coke.” Man of the Match: Real Simit FC for playing a great team game. Dud of the Match: To be determined.
