The white lions are too small to look back through the yellow window frame at the giggling children. They just want to lie, head on each other, warm breathing, getting podgy on three weeks of heating; or snuggle onto blue Eeyore and lick a caged paw. Children in pink jackets can weather the cold. They are variously old, fabulously independent looking in at the round tummies. Keeping their baby secrets warm in round ears pink at the heart, kitten sad recessive noses confuse the room. Someone is missing. Nadja the feeder turns the struggler over as his fierce lips fight the bottle to attach to the latex teat. Mmm-milk makes relationships better. Awwwh, the baby, shout the children. After the layers of motherjuice coat his stomach, hes awake and black-eyed, ready to climb inside a zoo-cuddle on a navy shoulder.
