The whole situation most lightly comes down to licencing... MCU works because they planned & co-ordinated from the start. And it clearly isnt easy to get it running... before Spider-Man & X-Men... marvel doesnt have much success with film. And those even those have their low points. And they dont have everything connected either... apparently the up-coming F4 Reboot is not part of MCU most likely because F4 like X-Men is still under FOX, I dont think FOX has any intention of any co-venture of this kind. Not to mention even under their own label... they decided not to connect Big Hero 6 because they are uncertain whether it will fit in. And DCCU is not a thing yet... they are only doing it because marvel made it worked, but I think they are in an even worst position than Marvel. It feel so much like a money grab than actually making an effort.
