The wilderness speaks of the testings and temptations in the wilderness of this fallen world (Song 8:5). We all have those testings, those setbacks, those disappointments, but we can have a vision: We are coming up. We are not going to let them change the conversation of our soul with God. For some, the conversation goes from “I am coming up in victory in love” to “I cannot believe they did that” and “so that is the way they treat people” and “if that is the way it is going to be, well, I will tell you…” By the grace of God we will not let that conversation get inside our inner sanctuary. That is for other folks who have no vision for where they are going spiritually. If we have a vision for going somewhere spiritually, then when they treat us badly or do not give us this or that opportunity or they did not give us the recognition or whatever it is, it will not move us. Our vision is we are coming up in victory. That is the only vision we want to have. We can understand they did not treat us rightly, but we are not letting that dominate our soul. No, it is not changing our internal conversation.
