The wind is starting to howl. It is eerie. Mission President is waiting until tomorrow morning to see how he feels and what the current trajectory is of the storm to make a decision exactly where we will stay. For right now we are in our apartment and have boarded up most of the windows of our apartment and the Senior couple next to us. We want to try to protect the furniture and other things that were purchased by the church also. So doing what we can to stay safe as well. I am planning as it gets close to the intense part of putting 2x4s against the front door and pinning them against the wall facing the door in case there is a wave that comes and could bash in the door. This happened in this apartment during Typhoon Yolanda and the whole first floor was buried by water from what I am told. They said that the water came in and brought mud and other debris but left quite quickly, but leaving a huge mess of pretty much everything mixed together from sewage to anything else you can imagine as well as the dead up and down the driveway. This time this area feels like a ghost town right now. Although all of the residents of this apartment are still here. I am trying right now to talk the area into letting us purchase another generator in the morning. Hope this happens, it could make things much more livable, even in the event that we get stuck here for a few weeks. We have bought a lot of food not just for us but enough that it could help feed many missionaries or families. Well I am preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. Interestingly a week ago when I was asked to prepare a talk for Stake Conference in which both Sister Anderson and I were going to speak. I had not heard of this storm yet and I felt impressed to write about Being Prepared. I even talked about the past disaster a little in the talk I wrote. I feel the Lord was just preparing us to be prepared. Another tender Mercy of the Lord to let us know that he is there watching over us. :) But though my talk mentioned disasters it was more focused on preparing spiritually for the second coming of the Savior, because this life is like one grain of sand in comparison to comparing the rest of the sands of the sea to eternity. So what is more important, this short life or preparing for the rest of eternity? That is so much more important. The next 24 hours should be very interesting :) We love you :)
