The women, domestic workers, come from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar. They sit beneath garish signs and posters, testifying to their friendliness and industriousness, or advertising super promo rates and special discounts. And images of African or South American slaves auctioned off in a plaza to white men come to mind. This is slavery in the guise of employment. Until there is inequality in this world, we will never be rid of this perspective.
