: The word ARTICULATE is often attributed to me by those who think of it as a compliment. So, Im ARTICULATE as opposed to being WHAT? The insinuation and implication here express that the NORM for me is supposed to be IGNORANCE; and being ARTICULATE is reserved for the INTELLIGENT, a group Im not traditionally or classically supposed to be associated with [Im supposed to be uneducated, uncultured, a negative generalization or stereotype, and an unfortunate statistic]. Im not supposed to be INTELLIGENT, ARTICULATE, EDUCATED, WISE, ENLIGHTENED, or even SUCCESSFUL. Unfortunately, other Black people believe these things to be TRUE, as well. Some poor, unfortunate souls believe that White people have a monopoly on INTELLECT and PROPER LINGUISTIC ARTICULATION; and that Black people have a monopoly on IGNORANCE. ALL human beings are COMLEX CREATURES, however; and we all have the ability to be INTELLIGENT [if we work at being INTELLIGENT] just as we are so complex that we can also master IGNORANCE [without trying, in most cases; again, if we so choose to be IGNORANT]. We CHOOSE to be or become whatever we are or grow into; and whatever we subscribe to and practice later becomes SECOND NATURE to us [we become INSTITUTIONALIZED in that practice; CONDITIONED to be what we have CHOSEN to adopt for ourselves].
