The word agape is a Greek word that means unconditional love. Too often we find in ourselves, and in others, this idea that we love another for what they offer us. We love a significant other because because we need to. In the end this selfish love is not conducive to a healthy marriage. True love is when you love someone, not for your sake, but for theirs. You love them because they exist. Loving someone in this matter compels you to think of that person more than yourself. Youll do things for their happiness. This kind of love is the one we should all strive for.
