The word incumbent gives a lot of protection to a person. In Cherokee Co having the word Republican next to your name gives even more protection to that person. Jeff Amasons petition to be the #Libertarian candidate for State House 21 was denied yesterday, Elect Carolyn Cosby has been going back and forth with the Board of Elections about the day she will hear about her petition for being an #Independent candidate County Commissioner. There are around 31344 voters in HD-21, there are 125178 voters in Cherokee Co (according to elections office website). Jeffs petition got around 2700 signatures (needed 1650) while Carolyns got around 7600 signatures (needed 6300). So from getting campaign ready, raising volunteers and paid staff, getting people to sign (which some people arent to happy about you showing up to there door), turning it into elections office them counting WHILE having runoffs for the Primaries, and now theres a chance both campaigns have publicly spoke on the possibility of legal action. There are only two people on this planet that benefit from there not being a contested election in November, those are the incumbents (who already have the Incum. Repub. label next to there name) Wouldnt it be easier just to allow people on the ballot, have elections instead of spending campaigns/elections office/courts time and energy protecting people who already have a crap ton of protection?? #BallotAccess #Libertarian #TEAParty #LibertyOnFire #GAPol
