The work John D. Liu is doing on large scale ecosystem restoration is unbelievable. This is his first documentary, but it seems hes made a or been part of a few other documentaries on his own restoration projects along with many others across the globe. Besides the incredible amounts of work he does himself, restoration can only be done when communities come together to re-plant trees, dig swales and build terraces among-st other things. Theres certain part in the film when it shows an entire mountainous landscape go from complete devastation to wholly green (restored within five years.) Ever time it gives me tears. When land is restored, rivers come back that havent been there for years and all sorts of biodiversity roams back in. Several years ago I tried contacting him to get involved, but sadly no response... hes busy and Im sure he gets loads of emails... within my Permaculture study though I was always fascinated with large scale restoration, although you can say its all large scale at least the movement.
