The worlds nine largest gemstones are about to be auctioned, including one of the worlds largest sapphires. This collection is the Ophir Collection, composed of 40 gemstones, while nine of the pieces have been recorded by Guinness World Records as one of the largest known specimens of their kind in the world. The Ophir Sapphire has been described as the size of a dinner plate, weighing 31,308 carats, while another piece called The Ophir Mystique is a 27.66 carat Ophir Mystique, believed to be a new mineral. Quoted as being possibly one of the only specimens of its kind in the world. All of the gemstones have been verified by the Gemological Institute of America and should cause a stir among all gemologists and gem lovers!
