The world’s shipping fleet of container ships just keeps getting bigger and bigger, literally. The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has announced it has plans to build five 14,000 TEU vessels and five 18,000 TEU cargo ships. The huge cargo ships are expected to be delivered sometime between 2014 and 2016, just in time for when analysts predict the global economy will begin a surge, following the opening of the Panama Canal Expansion in 2015. These giant new container vessels are the wave of the future and are expected to dominate the world seas. They are proving to be much more fuel-efficient, environmentally-friendly and are intended to save shipping companies a lot of money.
