The writer has with respect separated the problem from religion in general. It very much reflects, with some disagreements on some points, of how I feel about The Party of Lincoln. On a whole the old progressive intellectual brand of Republicans fit what are my core political beliefs. Through no movement on my part, now Im a left leaning Democrat. The fundamental definition of republican political thinking shifted hard right from the influence of social christian conservatives from the South. Some of my FB friends have probably unfriended or blocked my posts for my early less thoughtful forays into this subject. I understand that social media is full of push hot button here stories. By attempting to briefly explain some of the reason behind such pieces from others, my hope is for a more civil discussion. Agree or not. At least read the article before dismissing out of hand.
