The writers on the show Major Crimes have it right in a really mindbending way. The civil and criminal justice systems are not perfect. They are just an orderly method for the resolution of grievances. The only way they work is if we stand by it when it doesnt go our way. Problem: Afrikan America is taught from childhood that the system is rigged against them. This defining racial difference between what children are taught based on race is the source of all racial tension in this country. For every instance of white-on-black violence that you claim is institutional, I can find no less than one hundred examples of black-on-white violence in general, and a thousand examples of black-on-black violence in particular. Starting with this next generation, if children in Afrikan America were taught to show authorities and others respect at the same levels as other ethnic groups do with their offspring, the complaints would revert back to general gripes about how the system isnt fair when you are on the receiving end of it, no matter what race you belong to. Summary: teach your kids respect, they show the same respect regardless of race, then the complaints are the same regardless of race. Also, will the nearest Liberal please set the victory condition for what the end of racism looks like? Will it be when Afrikan Americans are the only ones permitted to hold racist views? We personally have achieved with our children something really close to what Dr. King was asking for in his I Have A Dream speech. Content of character vs. Color of skin? Wish that was the theme of the day still.
