The year 2014 is bidding farewell and the year 2015 is wishing greetings. The elapsing of a year is the occasion to turn over a page from one’s lifetime age book. This makes a good opportunity to work out the balance sheet of the previous year and to prepare the budget for the impending one. Generally, the year 2014 gave us mixed emotions. Socially, economically and technologically we could achieve a lot of breakthroughs. Our quest to explore the space has been in full swing with commendable results. Various social and economic schemes from different political institutions enhanced our social situations. Most of our nations are nearer to achieve their Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Today our economic status is much better too. We are about to escape from the depression of economic crisis. However, none of us are satisfied 100 %. The areas which we have to focus on and rectify are many more. Despite our joint effort to combat, the threat of terrorism is still looming upon us. The outbreak of Ebola, without any precautions in hand, with its increasing casualties makes us feel ashamed. The soul of the victims of the unprecedented natural calamities calls on us to be more vigil. Moreover, the human rights violation across the globe, especially the plight of Palestinian civilians- women and children- has to be addressed. Besides the year 2014 had been a reminder for us a lot. The tenth anniversary of the disastrous tsunami, the twenty fifth anniversary of the fall of Berlin wall reminded us to take lessons from the history. Hence, taking lessons from the history, this New Year is the time to rectify ourselves. Let us join hands to uproot terrorism. Let our minds chant that we won’t allow any community clashes to occur. Let us pledge that we won’t fill our belly when my neighbor goes to bed hungry. And at last, but not least, let all of us, taking energy from Quran and Sunna, be sure that all of my deeds are directed towards the attainment of Allah’s kindness Quran says: O you, who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. Wish you a prosperous New Year.
