The year in review – 2014 Two of our more popular critters at the Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo animal show were our two Woma Pythons. The male and female Womas would rotate performances in front of our audiences. Our Womas are probably the gentlest snakes that you will ever come into contact with. It was always fun to listen to the audience’s reaction when the handler would pull the python out of their bag. The audience was always very receptive to petting the pythons, remarkably even those guests that had a fear of snakes. The kids were the most open to interacting with our Woma Pythons. A fear of snakes is often a learned behavior that parents unknowingly pass on to their children. At KDU Zoo, we try to show the importance of snakes to helping keep a balance with rodents in nature and how to respect snakes.
