The year is 2003 and Northern Illinois University professor, and Christmas Carol historian, William E. Studwell names Good King Wenceslas as Christmas Carol of the Year. The music is a Finnish tune from 1582. The lyrics were written in 1853 by Anglican priest, John Mason Neale. The song takes place on December 26th, the Feast of Stephen, and describes a person of means and his page visiting a person in need to provide help. If you remember, Neale translated O Come, O Come Emmanuel from earlier in our series.
