The year was 2014, October, 15th, It had rained throughout the night. You could hear the incessant sounds as rain met the neighborhood iron sheets. The trees rattled, wind blew and thunder roared like a gazelle. It was grim, dark and terrifyingly cold. Jason Mraz was pelting off the stereo. I wont give up... he crooned. A sound of a bored, lonely and idle, greyhound seared through the night. Engines from automobiles rushing back home could be heard from a distance, revving endlessly. And the young man, then, curled himself in a ball and eased deeper under the comfy of his bed. He was lonely, like a seed thrown away by a disinterested farmer. He clenched shut his eyes as darkness, which awaits us all, covered him. Early morning, it drizzled lazily. The young man staggered out of bed, his backside bare for the world to prod, and he groggily ambled to the window and stifled a blurry glare and peeked outside. It was ugly as sin. Windy. Muddy. The vicinity covered in a smokescreen. The sky was robbed of clouds. The sun winked shyly, and the heavens floodgates remained ajar. A crisp air whipped his face and it carried with it a whiff of soggy soil that reeked like a cheap Cologne. He moved his eyes around, his neighbors doors were still firmly shut. He raised the same eyes and gazed away, a sign of more rain hang heavy in the skies. Bumps crept on his skin. He folded his arms akimbo and in a split moment, tumbled back to his room in quick strides. He ducked back under his covers as though he was being chased by a wild wolf. Breathing heavily, his chest heaving, his heart throbing loud in his ears, he pulled the blanket and duvet over his head hurriedly. Hell, he would have pulled the bed if he could, but he didnt. All he needed was warmth. And he got it. He lounged away in bed. Even when the rains stopped and the sun jutted aloft in the skies. Work will do itself, he thought to himself, smacking his chest like the infamous King Kong. Daniel Powter was on the stereo singing about bad days. His name was Edward.
